John McGinn (MBACP)
Counsellor
United Kingdom

John is a therapist (MBACP), specialising in the field of addiction, with many years of experience working in various residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres in the UK. His approach to addiction can best be described as an eclectic one: fusing the 12 Step model, solution-based therapies (such as CBT) and creative therapies (such as role play and psychodrama) within a client-empowering, person-centred ethos.
John’s academic background includes Honours Degrees in both psychology and philosophy; and most recently he attained a Master’s of Research in philosophy from the University of East Anglia – exploring links between addiction, psychotherapy and philosophy. John has a burning passion and a sense of personal integrity for this line of work since he is also in recovery: now having embraced total abstinence for nearly thirteen years.
