Brittany Barger
Counsellor
Brittany Barger, M.A. is a marriage and family therapist from California, specializing in addiction, mindfulness meditation, and trauma recovery.
Brittany has a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a Master Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy, from Pepperdine University. She has been practicing as a counsellor and therapist since 2008. She has over 3,000 hours of direct clinical experience as a psychotherapist treating addiction and trauma in a variety of settings including homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, school environments, and a mindfulness-based private practice.
She specialises in treating addiction, general trauma, rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, depression, anxiety and severe mental illness by using additional training and experience working with clients with special needs, adolescents and families. Brittany enjoys doing individual, family, group and crisis counselling and is especially passionate about educating families about addiction and co-dependency.
Brittany is also trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through the EMDR Institute to assist clients in processing trauma. She has additional certifications as a State Certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Crisis and Intervention Counsellor in her home state of California.
She believes in a holistic lens of healing and utilises mindfulness-based psychotherapy, as well as narrative and relational therapy, to empower clients to heal themselves and re-write their histories to one of success, joy and healing.
