Aftercare programme

The Cabin Chiang Mai is committed to helping you, even after you leave our drug and alcohol rehab. We have developed an intense rehab aftercare programme that will follow on from your residential treatment. Some people think that a residential rehab programme is enough for an addict, and once they are finished, their sobriety will be permanent. However, the first few weeks after leaving rehab, are the most risky times for any addict to relapse.

Staying on the right path

It is important that you and our rehab counsellors develop an effective and comprehensive aftercare plan to help you get through the critical period after leaving drug and alcohol rehab. The more dedicated you are with our rehab aftercare programme, the greater your chances are to remain addiction free.

Developing an effective and comprehensive aftercare plan

While you are getting treatment for your addiction to drugs or alcohol, you will learn various ways to manage your sober time and work on an individualized rehab aftercare programme with our counsellors.
In order to fully benefit from our rehab aftercare programme, you will begin to develop a unique plan that will help you to address complex challenges and situations that may affect your sobriety when you return home. While you are undergoing treatment at our rehab, you will work directly with our counsellors to develop a personalized aftercare plan that is unique to your own situation and needs. This aftercare plan will help set the foundation for long term sobriety.
Once you leave our rehab, you will receive 8 weeks of aftercare treatment to ensure you stay on the right path.

What will you receive?

  • A Personalized Relapse Prevention Plan
  • Coaching to manage your sober time
  • Online Aftercare Coaching and Support
  • Progress calls with a counsellor
  • Referral to Local Support Group (AA/NA)
  • Dedication to your recovery

A personalized Relapse Prevention Plan

While you are at our drug and alcohol rehab, you will learn what a relapse is and how to prevent one. This will be taught in all of the therapies offered at The Cabin Chiang Mai. Our counsellors and therapists will help you to develop a relapse prevention plan that will help you to identify your triggers, and then find ways to cope with these triggers. A relapse prevention plan can help you to restructure your life, and begin a new positive, healthy lifestyle.

Coaching to manage your sober time

Addiction may have consumed your life, and therefore, most of your time. Once you are free from your addiction, you may feel like you do not know what to do with this newly acquired free time. Included in our programme is learning how to manage your sober time once you return home. We will teach you things like how to keep and maintain a daily schedule, how to find new activities and hobbies, and how to meet sober friends. These can help you to stay on the right path and not fall back into old, unhealthy behaviors. Being able to manage your sober time is essential and may help you to prevent a relapse.

Online aftercare coaching and support

The Cabin Chiang Mai has developed our very own online aftercare programmeme. This is included in your treatment and will last for 8 weeks. Upon leaving the Cabin aftercare is conducted via online assignments which monitor your psychological state and protect against relapse in order to stay on top of your recovery. You will receive feedback and support from our counsellors during this period.

Progress calls with a counsellor

Follow up calls are conducted at one, three and six months. This will help us to monitor your progress after you leave our rehab. You will be able to talk privately to one of our counsellors, and discuss how you are doing and any problems that you may be having. The counsellor will ask you about your progress and give you guidance and support. If needed, a counsellor may make adjustments to your rehab aftercare plan to better benefit your recovery.

Referral to local support group (AA/NA)

As part of our rehab aftercare programme, we will help you to find a local support groups in your area. These support groups can play an important role in the recovery process and help you to stay drug and alcohol free.

Dedication to your recovery

As mentioned, your aftercare plan will be customized to suit your own individual needs. We will stay dedicated to your recovery and you will be referred to a psychologist, counsellor or health professional local to you, along with additional support groups, and leisure activities. We can give you advice for finding work or continuing your education. In the end, of course, you will have to be dedicated to your recovery for your recovery to work.
